Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Director of Customs Compliance & Operations to join our Procurement department based in Herndon, Virginia

Meet the Team:

You will be part of a team that works across all Airbus legal entities in the United States, managing customs regulations at both national and international levels and ensuring customs optimization.

Your Challenges:
  • Deputy to HO U.S. Customs (responsible for leading all aspects of the function in the absence of HO).
  • Drives proactive planning and integration of newly acquired manufacturing operations, including ensuring conformity with Airbus compliance standards.
  • Provide leadership to A350, A320 & A220 program manufacturing sites Customs internal & external resources related to FTZ administration and customs matters.
  • Identify and mitigate trade compliance and financial risks related to imports valued over $3 billion.
  • Acts as a corporate officer for Airbus U.S. A220 to exercise care and skill, and is subject to legal duties and potential liability under the law as it applies to Airbus U.S. A220, Inc. customs activities.
  • Working with U.S. government, state and local authorities on FTZ and U.S. Customs matters.
  • Responsible for defining and managing Customs Services contracts or purchases to support the U.S. manufacturing site customs activities or needs.
  • Participating with Multifunctional Teams and lead Project Management for Customs related issues and topics.
  • Supports the legal department in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints.
  • Alignment with the A220, A320, & A350 programs Finance & Tax teams.
  • Alignment with the central Customs team in Herndon, VA; Mirabel, Canada; & Toulouse, France for recurring activities.
  • Responsible for planning and reporting of Customs operational budgets for FTZ, A320, A220 & A350 programs
Your Boarding Pass:
  • Master's degree in business, finance, or a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of international trade compliance experience,
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of international trade compliance experience, or
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 20 years of international trade compliance experience
  • U.S Customs House Brokers License or equivalent compliance and regulatory experience, is required
  • Robust customs compliance knowledge
  • Experience in operational systems including SAP, Purchasing, FTZ management software and customs clearance, preferably within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of US governmental regulations pertaining to customs clearance & logistics.

  • Vision:
  • Able to see to operate a personal computer and create documents; make presentations in small and large groups and observe items, processes, storage areas, delivery systems, etc.
  • Hearing:
  • Able to hear to participate in phone and in-person conversations and also able to hear sirens, alarms and other emergency signals.
  • Speaking:
  • Able to speak and conduct conversations often for extended periods of time in meetings, negotiations and training.
  • Equipment Operation:
  • Able to operate personal computer and other standard office equipment and to use badge to enter facilities
  • Carrying:
  • Able to carry up to 10lbs/5kg
  • Lifting:
  • Able to lift up to 10lbs/5kg.
  • Pushing / Pulling:
  • Able to push/pull items over short distances and only on occasion.
  • Sitting:
  • Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings; drafting computer-based documents, sometimes with limited breaks.
  • Squatting / Kneeling:
  • Able to occasionally squat and kneel occasionally mainly to replace or retrieve items from low storage.
  • Standing:
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, touring vendor facilities, traveling and similar activities.
  • Travel:
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally sometimes on short notice and sometimes for long periods of time.
  • Walking :
  • Able to walk as needed for extended periods of time and distance for travel; touring vendor premises, etc.
