Comfort Therapist Hospice

Summary

The C-IHS Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care delivered to the patient and family through direct patient care activities that support the hospice agency's goal of quality patient care.



Responsibilities

  • The C-IHS Therapists provides professional, approved therapeutic modalities to patients; such as, licensed massage therapist, music therapist, certified music practitioner therapy, acupuncture therapist, etc., within his/her scope of practice and agency policies and procedures, which may include licensure, registration, and/or certification.
  • Knowledge of hospice and end of life care.
  • Compassionate interactaction with patients and families.
  • Provides assistance to the hospice program and/or patient/family in accordance with designated activities.
  • Provides input towards the plan of care and interdisciplinary group meetings, as applicable and needed.
  • Communicates availability and schedule changes to supervisor.
  • Accurately documents services provided as trained and instructed by the hospice agency.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
  • Communicates any observed changes in the patient's status to assigned supervisor and/or agency Executive Director.
  • Attends at least four (4) in-services per year.
  • Completes all mandatory trainings.
  • Submits annual renewable documents timely.
  • Maintains professional liability coverage, per company policy.
  • Maintains professional certification, registration, licensure status, and/or continuing education according to the specific therapy modality requirements.
  • CPR certified.
  • Participates in community outreach projects for the agency, as needed.



Education and Experience

  • The C-IHS Therapists will provide specific therapeutic interventions according to his/her therapy-specific experience and training according to the education requirements as outlined in the associated hospice policy
  • Experience in working with people
  • 6 months experience working with hospice patients/families, or similar patient population
  • One year experience in designated C-IHS modality preferred


Skill Requirements



  • Mature, non-judgmental, caring, people-oriented individual, who is supportive of the hospice concept of care.
  • Completion of C-IHS Training Program.
  • Completion of LHC Group orientation and skills competency related to professional role.
  • Maintains requirements of professional role.
