Why this job matters:

The Customer Advisory Solutions Team (CAST) Sales and Broker Relations Intern will work with Account Executives in both Small and Large Group segments on retention and new business in the Commercial Market. This individual will utilize several different applications and resources to assist with day-to-day assignments, learn about our products and services through digital resources and virtual learning opportunities. The intern will be invited to attend meetings with team members for sales experience in addition to meetings for operational purposes.

What you will do:


  • Assist both Small and Large Group Account Executives with daily sales tasks:

    • Request materials for customers
    • Process amendments and other applications in Salesforce
    • Review and create open enrollment PowerPoint presentations
    • Update customer information in Salesforce




  • Assist with Large Group New Business


  • Gather and organize information required for new business quotes

    • Submit requests for new business quotes to Underwriting using Salesforce application
    • Assist with tracking of prospects and opportunities
    • Assist with Broker Relations

      • Perform tasks required in the planning and executing of broker events
      • calendar invites, tracking attendees, vendor communication, ordering of gifts and materials, etc.






What you need to succeed:


  • Matriculating status from Providence College
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and a strong interest in the health insurance industry
  • Learning mindset, focus on continuous process improvement
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, for delivery to a variety of audiences
  • Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment

  • Review product portfolios, benefit summaries, and other digital collateral for both Small and Large Group to familiarize and learn our offerings
  • Gather and organize competitive carrier information from previous quotes (retention and new business) for product team
  • Review our teams SharePoint to ensure most accurate collateral and forms are saved

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:



  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
