Position Summary

This position is for a student to assist the PI with day-to-day activities during data collection for a high-frequency, longitudinal phone survey in Eswatini. The student will assist with monitoring study progress, organizing calls, and communicating results.

STUDY OVERVIEW:

Adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa have the highest rate of undesired pregnancies and HIV incidence (relative to other ages) but little is known about the dynamics of contraceptive use among this vulnerable age group because face-to-face data collection (the predominate data collection approach in sub-Saharan Africa) is too expensive and time-consuming to collect repeated measures. Therefore, contraceptive use patterns including contraceptive consistency, as well as how pregnancy desires change contraceptive behaviors is understudied. To fulfill this need, we will survey AGYW in Eswatini every two weeks for 2 years to describe sexual activity, contraception dynamics and pregnancy desires.

The position is contingent upon funding availability.
