Description

Provide a vital service to the West Allis community by repairing water mains and water services, and maintaining and replacing valves and fire hydrants throughout the City. Opportunities for both experienced water distribution system maintenance repairers and those who would like to become one.

Maintenance Repairer must have 2-3 years' experience maintaining water distribution system piping, valves and hydrants. A Water Maintenance Repairer performs manual and semi-skilled work involving installation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water distribution system and associated service functions, and records water consumption data from water meters located at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

If you don't currently posses the above qualifications, you can still be considered for the Laborer/Maintenance Repairer in Training. No experience necessary. Heavy manual labor experience preferred. This role involves light to heavy manual labor on a wide variety of tasks involving installation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water distribution system. Duties also include recording water consumption data from water meters at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. You will be trained on the job and will be promoted to the Maintenance Repairer position when appropriate skill level is achieved.

West Allis Resident Incentive Pay: An employee who resides within the City of West Allis shall be granted an additional 5% on top of the established pay for this position.

Repair, replace and/or maintain water mains, valves, water services, and fire hydrants

Qualifications

Maintenance Repairer Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

2-3 years' experience maintaining water distribution system piping, valves, and hydrants

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record per City policy - see supplemental questions

Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 3 months of hire

Laborer/Maintenance Repairer In Training Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record per City policy - see supplemental questions

Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 12 months of hire

Prior experience in heavy manual labor preferred.
