Project Manager, Engineering As a Project Manager, Engineering you will be responsible for working with the Center of Excellence team to transform the process safety culture and standards across Heritage locations. The Project Manager will lead installations of new equipment, modifications of existing equipment, support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with the execution of Heritage's Full Potential Plan (FPP). Ideal candidates will bring a strong technical background, exceptional project management abilities and effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers. The Project Manager, Engineering and the Center of Excellence department are new to the organization and will have the opportunity to help establish engineering practices across the Company. This role reports directly to the Center of Excellence leader. Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
- Assists in the development of best practices in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving all types of processes or production issues
- Applies identified and developed best practices to other facilities with goals towards standardization, cost savings, uptime improvement and a preventative maintenance approach
- Provides project management support on multiple projects, including RCRA compliance projects & continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversees contractor groups to ensure that work is done safely, within project scope and budget, and accomplishes project objectives
- Integrates capital project work into operations scheduling to efficiently complete project work with minimal impact to plant operations
- Prepares reports documenting project activities to satisfy regulatory requirements
- Assists with the automation of current processes to control costs, drive consistency and meet demand
- Participates in technical problem-solving for customers and suppliers as circumstances require
- Develops and maintains fiscal year and 5-year capital project roadmap with focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement projects
- Ensures projects driven through our Full Potential Plan are prioritized and resourced appropriately
- Partners with the Purchasing function to ensure the global supply chain accommodates project schedules and budgets
- Incorporates data analysis and problem-solving through Lean manufacturing methodologies, DMAIC, Value Stream Maps, 5-Why, Ishikawa diagrams, FMEAs and/or Kaizen to investigate issues and performance drivers to establish robust action plans
- Owns project management elements for large capital expenditure engineering projects and ensures they meet established goals including time, quality, cost and profitability targets
- Provides engineering expertise in the areas of prints, product specifications, equipment maintenance, automation, operational excellence and purchases throughout the organization
- Coordinates with other members of the management team and keeps them informed of project status and performance versus budget and schedule
- Ensures projects are managed across multiple locations within the organization
- Maintains the ability to travel as required, up to 30% of the time
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (required); mechanical specialization (preferred)
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, capital project management, production and maintenance (required)
- 5+ years of experience utilizing reliability, Lean/Six Sigma, productivity or continuous improvement principles (preferred)
Competencies:
- Proficiency in manufacturing processes and Lean methodologies with strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain composure in a high-stress, high-energy environment
- Strong ability to influence teams in and outside of the engineering department
- Proactive orientation with a focus on continuous improvement and providing constructive feedback
- Ability to manage complex and aggressive project schedules and deliver results on time and to specification
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
