Position Summary The College of University Library & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) is looking for a forward- thinking, service-oriented, collaborative leader for the Director of Access Services, with a keen sense of the evolving role of research libraries in the digital age and demonstrated knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in public services for research libraries. The faculty rank, tenure status, and salary (minimum $95,000) are negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Reporting to the Associate Dean for University Libraries, the Director will provide overall leadership, mentorship, and vision for the Access Services Unit, which includes 35 staff and 85 students. The Director will oversee the development, enhancement, and assessment of user-centered services to meet the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. Current services include frontline circulation, resource sharing, and information services across three library buildings of various sizes and specialties, and an off-site high density storage facility. The Director will lead an eleven-member Access Services Leadership team and supervise five operations managers, one library services coordinator, and two special program managers. As a member of the Associate Dean's Leadership Team, the Director will collaborate with other units in the college to proactively plan and implement services. The successful candidate will be a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced administrator with a strong record of leadership and innovation. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including adaptability, a willingness to listen, the ability to inspire, and a commitment to consensus-building. They will possess comprehensive knowledge about research libraries and demonstrate their commitment to ongoing professional development through scholarly research and publication, presentations, and service participation.
