Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Post Doctoral Fellow, Balachandran Lab

The Balachandran Lab is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual to join our dynamic research team. Our goal is to discover new ways to stimulate the immune system to treat cancer through careful study of rare cancer patients with exceptional outcomes. We believe that deep study of these remarkable patients will identify fundamental mechanisms of how the immune system controls cancers, and accelerate the discovery of new effective drugs. We use this approach to study pancreatic cancer, a model deadly cancer that is refractory to all treatments including immunotherapy - and specifically focus on a rare subgroup of pancreatic cancer patients with exceptional long-term survival to discover new immunotherapeutic approaches. Our long-term vision is to use a similar approach of study of biological extremes to usher in the next generation of cancer immunotherapies.

Role Overview:

As a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Balachandran Lab, you will conduct independent research demonstrating a passion for understanding and using the immune system to fight cancer. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to craft and implement experiments, analyze data, and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Key Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in the biological sciences, with an interest in cancer immunology, cancer immunotherapy, or cancer vaccines
  • Proficiency in immunologic techniques, including flow cytometry and immune response assays, and familiarity with common molecular biology techniques
  • Hands-on experience with animal models, including tumor implantation, preferred
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design and biomarker discovery
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics approaches for immune profiling and data analysis
  • A history of publication, with experience in manuscript writing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • An innovative mindset with a passion for scientific discovery
