About the team

Our Product and Technology teams are the Worldpayers behind the game-changing products and digital experiences we're best known for. Striving for better, they never stand still - delivering impactful innovations that power transactions across the world.

Our Observability Practice is an SRE team dedicated to operational excellence and innovation, working across our global technology department to ensure an exceptional customer experience. We collaborate with platform teams to reduce incidents, enhance platform resilience, scalability, and mature our observability practices.

What you'll own

  • Drive operational excellence across the E2E customer journey

  • Evangelize best practices in observability and guide product delivery teams on achieving operational excellence for new product deliveries

  • Develop a single pane of glass for Business Ops, IT Ops, and Engineering across the customer journey

  • Define and implement E2E observability requirements across the customer journey

  • Design and implement innovative observability solutions for both internal and external stakeholders

  • Contribute to observability instrumentation standards and create repeatable patterns and libraries for engineering teams

  • Perform E2E capacity planning for specific user journeys

  • Create and lead a matrix team to support best practices and train support and business operational teams to enable self-service of dashboards and alerts

Where you'll own it

You will be based in our Cincinnati, OH office (hybrid). We embrace remote working but also value face-to-face communication. The Observability team is split across the UK and US and collaborates with teams across EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and North America.

What you bring

  • A drive to achieve operational excellence

  • Passion for driving new tools and patterns in observability, and the ability to evangelize these across the organization

  • Experience owning an E2E customer journey in complex multinational organizations, driving consistency and a customer-centric mindset within engineering teams

  • Experience with Open Telemetry, ideally as a contributor to the Open-Source Project

  • Ability to work collaboratively across many teams, influencing decisions and setting standards

  • Experience in achieving platform-level and E2E SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs, and creating accountability in meeting them

  • Ability to perform E2E capacity planning and ensure architecture supports fluctuating volume levels

  • Understanding of batch reconciliation processes

  • Knowledge of implementing solutions to reduce Mean Time to Identify (MTTI) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)

  • Experience with disaster recovery and redundancy in cloud and on-prem environments

  • Experience leading cross-platform performance optimization and tuning

  • Ability to navigate complexity and lead Post-Incident Reviews (PIRs) to successful outcomes

The pay range for this full-time position is $105,070.00 - $176,520.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
