Enterprise Network Architect

This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph.

Criterion Systems is seeking a mission-focused Enterprise Network Architect to support and contribute to our government customer's success in Washington, DC.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Enterprise Network Architect: $140,000 - $220,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Enterprise Network Architect Responsibilities Include:



  • Design, engineer, and implement complex network solutions across diverse environments (core, distribution, edge, border), encompassing Layer 2/3 routing and switching.
  • Define future bandwidth requirements.
  • Conduct redundancy planning and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Ensure infrastructure configurations align with industry best practices and security standards.
  • Collaborate with lead engineers to address and resolve and implement architectural challenges.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation across various levels (technical, architectural, business, operational).
  • Develop and evaluate alternative solutions considering technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, security implications, and business requirements.
  • Translate customer needs and objectives into actionable enterprise network solutions.
  • Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards (e.g., DOD, IC, international standards).
  • Maintain compliance with security requirements and system plans.
  • Manage projects of varying scope and timelines effectively.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Implement design improvements and enhancements to optimize network performance.
  • Document workarounds and best practices.
  • Experience with Commercial Cloud Services (C2S), specifically AWS.
  • Familiarity with IA controls and RMF/ATO processes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Enterprise Network Architect Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Years of experience with one of the following:

    • High School/GED plus seven (9) years of relevant experience
    • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field plus five (7) years of relevant experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus three (5) years of relevant experience
    • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus one (3) years of relevant experience

  • Deep expertise in network engineering principles, including routing and switching protocols (BGP, MPLS, SDNDHCP, NTP, PTP). Strong understanding of network architectures, including data center, campus, and WAN environments. Experience with cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Certifications: Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II, CCIE Routing & Switching (R&S) or equivalent industry certification.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
