The Equipment Engineer will be responsible for Process equipment to manufacture wafers of high-power GaAs based laser structures. Engineer will be responsible for Epi Process equipment control/sustaining, equipment upgrades and maintenance for routine upkeep of the tool and troubleshooting issues. The Equipment Engineer will also be responsible to specify requirements for any new equipment or parts purchases and auditing external suppliers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives equipment improvement activities that contribute to Increased Yield, Reduced Cycle Time and improved Equipment Availability
  • Maintain and support all vendor activities and contracts. Maintain budget and spare parts inventory.
  • Directly responsible for Equipment Availability metric and follow ups.
  • Determine PM Frequency and Spare parts recommendation.
  • Oversee/Perform PM, troubleshooting activities, equipment shutdowns/startups, and driving PDCA process.
  • Responsible for new tool purchase/ installs and equipment upgrade specification.
  • Develop new and maintain existing TPM documents.
  • Train and coach maintenance technicians Equipment troubleshooting
  • Hands-on operation and maintenance of process equipment.
  • Track of engineering changes by updating equipment documentation and procedures.
  • Supports the installation, operation, and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Performs upgrade activities on equipment to maintain high quality of product.
  • Creates, approves, reviews work instructions and documentation to support standardized work in the production area.
  • Develops procedures related to the training and certification of maintenance technicians.
  • Review TPM documentation for completeness and effective implementation.
  • Develops and executes experiments to test new components in equipment before use in production.
  • Initiate short-term and long-term solutions to meet the business needs.

Position Requirements

  • Strong equipment design knowledge
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Semiconductor equipment experience preferred on EPI growth (MOCVD) equipment.
  • Able to work safely with toxic gases, hazardous chemicals, and self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Ability to work with high voltage, in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift to 75 lbs. and using respirator or SCBA.
  • Experience with Kaizen events, total productive maintenance, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • SPC training or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Self-directed, based on objectives, identify complex problems and a strong drive to find problems.
  • Good communication and strong team member with contributions to team success
  • Strong organizational and multi-task skills
  • Competent user of jump or other statistical data analysis software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical / Electronic Engineering or suitable combination of an undergraduate degree with related work experience required.
  • 5+ years technical experience with preventive and predictive maintenance process
  • Sustaining support experience in a production environment.
  • Wafer fab machine operation, maintenance and repair experience preferred.
  • Experience with semiconductor process equipment and wafer process standard operating procedures preferred.
