The Opportunity:

As Portfolio Leader you will focus on providing Portfolio Strategy, Portfolio Management and Portfolio Insights & Analytics to partners across Pharma and the Roche enterprise. You will be expected to closely collaborate with colleagues in relevant groups beyond PSM in co-creating deliverables. Accountabilities for team members include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following areas:

  • Strategy support - Partner with Pharma Leaders to co-create and deliver robust portfolio and business strategies that provide the scaffolding for Pharma portfolio decisions

  • Portfolio assessments and presentations - Manage and communicate portfolio dynamics (risk, value, mix, competitive positioning etc.) to inform portfolio decisions and strategy updates. Develop portfolio content and actionable insights presented to Executive Leadership.

  • Decision support and valuation - Active thought partner to teams and decision-makers including, defining/scoping of tactics to deliver on defined business strategies; content expertise to develop strategic options.

  • Decision management and ecosystem architecture - Ensure decision quality by architecting the path to a decision, the decision making model, and portfolio prioritization. Design/evolve advice seeking and fit-for-purpose engagement opportunities, and develop/evolve resources and guidance to support decision making and portfolio management.

  • Insights & analytics - Design, develop and improve metrics, analytics and visualizations to generate evidence and business insights that enable operational efficiency and optimal decision-making and targeted communications. In addition, provide and update guidance on valuation and risk methodologies used by teams and decision-makers. Key deliverables include quarterly Pharma Portfolio Reports, annual R&D performance benchmarking, business planning and ad hoc requests.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in science, business, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree and/or certification (e.g. MBA, PhD, PharmD, MS, MPH) preferred.

  • Experience in portfolio management, decision analysis and analytics (descriptive, predictive and/or prospective).

  • Experience in strategy development and linking strategy to tactics.

  • Strong analytical competence with experience in business case development including valuation.

  • Good understanding of disease/drug development to translate competitive/industry insights into actions.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $149,300.00 - $277,300.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
