Job Duties/Scope Of Work

At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. A day in the life of an Environmental Scientist, under general/minimal supervision involves, but is not limited to:
* Provide support to Waste Projects & Operations project management and staff to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, contract requirements and company policies. * Periodically interface with DOE and regulatory stakeholders on environmental issues. * Identify environmental requirements and implementing mechanisms. * Independently evaluate, select, and apply techniques, procedures, and criteria to solve a variety of complex problems. * Routinely interface with Subject Matter Experts from Environmental Protection. * Working with project staff and Environmental Protection SMEs participate in regulator inspections and assist in responding to regulator requests. * Prepare and/or review environmental documentation, permit applications, procedure modifications and other regulatory documents. * Perform environmental assessments. * Using the Integrated Contractor Assurance System document issues and develop and implement corrective actions. * Provide input to site-wide regulatory reports. * Assist in preparation and/or review of CERCLA environmental documentation, RCRA closure documents and other regulatory documents as necessary. * Make technical decisions and assume responsibility for accuracy and adequacy of final conclusions and solutions. * Routinely interface with all levels of management and staff regarding regulatory requirement identification, analysis, interpretation, and implementation to develop innovative and compliant solutions. Interfaces require good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Basic Qualifications
* Intermediate Level Grade 17: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related technical degree with 4 or more years of relevant experience.
* Career Level Grade 18: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related technical degree with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Must be experienced with and capable of developing innovative and compliant solutions to complex environmental issues. * Demonstrable working knowledge of and familiarity with associated environmental statutes, regulations (RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, etc.). * Proficient in Microsoft programs Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
* Intermediate Level Grade 17: $96,938- $122,113.
* Career Level Grade 18: $106,663 - $134,588.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
