WANTED: Experienced Software Developer Engineer in support of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Research, Engineering and Development - OUSD (R&E)

As a Software Developer Engineer you will:



  • Database Architect: Develop and implement database architectures that meet the organization's requirements for data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Provide critical support in protecting our country.

A day in the life of a Software Developer Engineer you will:



  • Designing databases: Implement and deploy databases on various platforms.
  • Contribute to protect the nation's Research & Engineering (R&E) technology ecosystem.
  • Writing code: Writing code to interact with databases and develop database applications.
  • Analyzing and maintaining databases: Analyzing and maintaining existing databases, including ensuring performance, security, and availability.
  • Implementing data management practices: Implementing and managing company data management practices and policies.
  • Performing common database procedures: Handling common database procedures such as backup, recovery, migration, and upgrade.
  • Collaborate across multiple interagency teams to fortify America's approach to safeguarding science and next generation technology.
  • Crosswalk adversary technology status with our nation's current research cadence and progress.

Job Requirements

  • BS or higher Degree required in computer science, software engineering, or a STEM field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Secret Clearance Required, must beTS/SCI Clearance eligible.
  • Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, PL/SQL, C++, Java, and C#, and with page description languages like HTML.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, including data modeling, schema design, and database normalization.
  • Experience with database management systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases, including Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, and Microsoft Azure Database Services.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data security.
  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Strong team orientation.
  • Ability to be on-site for classified work and meetings.
  • Proactive and organized.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans (including ESOP and 401k), insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
