Department Information The Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) is a 300,659 sq. ft. facility located on Ferst Drive, on the West side of campus. The complex is a unique expansion of the existing swimming and diving venue built for the 1996 Olympic Games. Campus Recreation provides a premier recreation fitness center, aquatic center, recreation fields, and leadership challenge course for the Georgia Tech community. We offer programming that includes Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness Instruction and Classes, and Outdoor Recreation.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director - Aquatics plans and directs aquatic functions within Campus Recreation. This position is responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback and making pay recommendations. This position will interact consistently with department management and full-time staff, campus partners, volunteers, various student groups, alumni and representatives from the Risk Management and Legal Services departments. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 Identify standards and coordinate with facilities and building services personnel to ensure proper operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities to meet or exceed State Health regulations and National standards. Job Duty 2 Manage and maintain adequate inventory of supplies, equipment, and chemicals to safely operate all pools and serve as hazardous materials coordinator for the department. Job Duty 3 Plan and manage an aquatic facility schedule including daily rentals for internal and external clients. This includes the preparation and execution of contracts related to rentals. Job Duty 4 Plan and direct programs as appropriate including operations, promoting and developing new programs. Job Duty 5 Formulate and, on approval, administer operating budget for aquatics. Job Duty 6 Assist and support operations and special events which include working some nights, weekends, and institute holidays. Job Duty 7 Implement risk management policies in accordance with State and National Standards and provide advisory resources to Directors to inform on best practices. Job Duty 8 Manage the area's technology needs and research new trends where appropriate including knowledge, inventory, and maintenance of the scoring and timing equipment. Job Duty 9 Develop and implement a reporting system to prepare reports on aquatic facility usage and equipment, track pool ops and performance, and operational history. Job Duty 10 Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience Two to three years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of advanced competitive scoring and timing systems
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS Demonstrated successful experience in aquatic facilities management; excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective organizational and interpersonal skills; experience managing and supervising employees; and demonstrated knowledge of aquatic event management.
