Summary

The Design Technician II position will be responsible for generating clear technical documentation and procedures that can be referenced by other design, manufacturing, or quality engineers. Along with other responsibilities, this position will collaborate with design owners to recommend design enhancements including product continuity and manufacturability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist onsite engineers in developing new designs, design reviews, supporting documentation and prototype builds.
  • Provide detailed design guidance to Center of Excellence Design Technicians and CAD Drafters.
  • Support existing products, prototypes and new catalog variants builds onsite Marengo acting as a liaison for the Center of Excellence between Marengo's onsite quality, operations and purchasing
  • Use of computer aided design and optimization tools

Representative Decisions

  • Drawing and documentation approval for simple components and processes
  • Provide design recommendations with corresponding documentation to engineers
  • Provide design solutions
  • Documentation updates to families of parts to maintain standardization and best practices

  • Optimized design and documentation package including detail and assembly drawings and BOM's
  • Consistently meet deadlines and objectives according to internal and external standards
  • Contributes to designs that meet customer requirements (internal and external)
  • Product and process design documentation that leverages reference designs and best practices enabling design traceability

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 2-year degree in technical discipline, certification or education in combination of applicable work experience.
  • Proficient in Solidworks.
  • Proficient in the common Office 365 tools: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook.
  • Must be a U.S. Person must meet compliance requirements.
  • 1-3 years required experience in product design engineering environment
  • Product and application knowledge
  • Understanding of design requirements
  • Use of computer-aided design tools
  • Ability to participate in a technical discussion with internal and external customers (e.g., application or spec review & VOC)
  • Tolerance analysis of complex systems and assemblies
  • Ability to design simple to medium complexity catalog derivatives
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems regarding product assembly and configuration control

Physical Demand and Work Environment

Physical Demands - while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

Work Environment - Collaborative office environment. Frequent meetings on the manufacturing floor. The position is on-site in Marengo with infrequent work-from home opportunities.

Expected salary: $40,000 - $60,000 annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
