Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Software Build Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in automating and optimizing our software build and deployment processes, ensuring consistency and quality across all applications. As a Software Build Engineer, you will design, modify, develop, write, and implement build automation for software repositories to ensure consistent and efficient build/deployment packages for all applications. Your primary responsibilities will include creating and maintaining standard pipelines for building applications, running unit tests, generating a software bill of materials (SBOM), conducting security scans, and ensuring builds contain all necessary files for production deployment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Automate the build process for .NET and JavaScript applications using Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, and other tools.
  • Ensure build processes include proper handling of .dll files and manifest.json with the correct build numbers.
  • Execute and publish unit test results within the build pipeline.
  • Generate and publish software bill of materials (SBOM) for each build.
  • Perform Fortify security scans as part of the build process and publish the results to the Software Security Center (SSC) server.
  • Integrate SonarQube for static code analysis in the build pipeline and publish the results.
  • Verify the inclusion of all necessary files for production deployments in the build.
  • Publish .zip files of the build and ensure the proper hash of the .zip file is generated and stored.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to identify and resolve build and deployment issues.
  • Support enterprise software configuration management by tracking new major version release dates and published deprecation dates of open source and commercial off-the-shelf (OSS/COTS) software components.

Here's what you need:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software build and deployment engineering, with at least 3 years specializing in software application workflows and complex product development.
  • Proficiency in automating builds for .NET and JavaScript applications using Azure DevOps pipelines, Artifacts, and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong experience with PowerShell or other shell scripting languages to automate build tasks.
  • Proficiency with tools like Fortify (for security scans), SonarQube (for static code analysis), and generating SBOMs.
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and build/deployment automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Windows-based web applications, MS SQL database applications, and related development tools.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience configuring Fortify client and SSC server to run as part of the build pipeline.
