POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mental Health Consultant will operate as a trainer to ensure the delivery of mental health related training sessions and will function as a core member of Project HOPE's Mental Health efforts in response to the Los Angeles Wildfires. The Mental Health Consultant will work remotely and onsite locations to plan and deliver training sessions, prepare training material, follow up on reporting and affiliated research. Trainings will take place with local community-based organizations, schools, health facilities, and more.

TIME COMMITTMENT: Six months to One Year

LOCATION: Must be in Los Angeles area

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in planning meetings with program manager, administrators, and partners for the mental health related training programs.
  • Preparation of different training material/curriculum/resources according to the need of participants.
  • Adaptation of existing training material to the local context of participants.
  • Provide support and communicate regularly with program manager to provide updates on training progress and challenges.
  • Provide information and resources on psychological concepts, assessment tools, and training models.
  • Support and monitor the engagement of local health stakeholders to advocate for the mental health program and to ensure sustainability plans are in place.
  • Conduct initial assessments to better understand what needs and restrictions there may be in settings for the mental health trainings.
  • Provide on-going revisions of the curriculum and implementation model when necessary.
  • Provide continual support to trainees and targeted organizations/agencies as needed throughout program period.
  • Assist with management of all collected data during the training including impact assessments and evaluation surveys.
  • Ensure all activities and targets are reached according to plans.
  • Travel to worksite locations to deliver live trainings.
  • Plan and implement online training sessions when live sessions are not possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in the field of psychology, mental health, and or counseling with 5 years of experience, providing program development, research, clinical care, psychosocial support, and educational services with diverse national and international populations.
  • Experience in adult and youth learning and capacity building programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work across departments and interact professionally and tactfully with partners, employees, and volunteers at all levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet).
