Strategic Transport Senior Specialist

The Strategic Transport Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end strategic solutions and optimization for transport and supply of future portfolio and large projects in USA and Canada. Including identifying portfolio risks and opportunities assessment, scheduling, viability studies and coordination. Scope includes but is not limited to, working with Vestas Sales & Business Development teams, Supply Chain, Construction, Finance, Factories, BID team personnel and external vendors, to ensure that Projects in the Sales Pipeline are optimized and viable to be transported timely, safely, and cost-effective. Role is direct reporting to AME transport organization with matrixed reporting into VAME value engineering, pricing and strategic projects team.

Responsibilities:



  • Collaborates with customers and internal/external stakeholders to optimize delivery plan and strategy pertinent to Large Portfolio plays and projects with the region.
  • Coordination with local and international procurement teams to identify end-to-end R&O for future projects, including but not limited to international shipment, ports, barges, trucking, and rail.
  • Identify potential future constraints, including but not limited to; congestions, space and capacity, indexations requirements and local policies.
  • Stay current with DOT regulations, international shipping requirements, and to act as a liaison with customs and trade teams.
  • Ability to organize and operate on future and forward-looking environment in conjunction with Supply Chain Planning and transportation teams.
  • Require and engage with rail and trucking vendors for clearances, route approvals and surveys.
  • Focus on value engineering and cost optimization pre- and post-firm order intake for strategic projects.



Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, International Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in large component logistics or wind energy
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP
  • Good oral and written skills.
  • PowerPoint presentations are required
  • Attention to detail and organization.
  • Knowledge of truck and container movements required
  • Knowledge of international cargo moves, both intermodal, vessel, and trucking
  • Ability to manage own tasks as well as coordinate efforts of cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel up to 35%



Competencies:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, SAP and Salesforce.
  • Financial acumen for business case preparation
  • Good presentation skills at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and with variety of cultures (coordinating with various time zones)
  • Expert in Problem solving
