Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Assistant II to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

The successful candidate will investigate new algorithms and models for analyzing and understanding human behavior. Specific research topics for human behavior using one or multiple cameras will focus on the design of efficient algorithms for perceptual algorithms for behavioral cue extraction; novel approaches for the modeling of people interaction, with application to medical research and affective computing. Write code and develop novel theoretical and practical state of the art artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms that are focused on human behavior modeling related to video classification using CNN and other deep learning networks for end-users. Work with other team members to develop and maintain software for maximum efficiency and usability. Designs, develops, tests and maintains applications or system programs. Gathers and provides input on functional specifications and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects, verifies and manages data. Performs data analysis in order to produce reports. Documents and processes results. Develops quantitative models.

  • Contributes to overall project planning and acts as lead to coordinate portions of a large project or study. Ensures project deadlines are met.

  • Maintains administrative records. Tracks and adheres to established budgets.

  • May program software in support of job functions.

  • .With some supervision, designs experiments and research protocols.

  • Writes and edits recommendations and reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Strong Oral and written Communication Skills

  • Strong Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills

  • 3-5 years of Research Lab Experience

  • 3-5 years of Research Experience

  • 3-5 years of Data Collection and Analysis Experience

  • 3-5 years of Research Methodology Experience

Training:

  • OSHA Hazardous Materials Safety Training
