Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a HR Operations Manager!

About the role

In this role, you will enhance the employee experience by optimizing HR processes, ensuring compliance, manage general HR operations, oversee Symetra's onboarding program, collaborate on cross-functional projects, and develop the HR Coordinator team, who provide first level HR support for our employees.

What you will do



  • Team Leadership

    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing environment through direct management of the HR Coordinator team.
    • Ensure timely and accurate responses, act as the escalation point, monitor service effectiveness, and implement improvements.
    • Provide guidance, motivation and course correction to team members. Help remove obstacles; troubleshoot issues; and look for ways to continuously improve the employee experience while streamlining HR processes.


  • HR Operations, Compliance, and Reporting

    • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for HR in all areas including procedures, records management and compliance reporting ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
    • Serve as the main point of contact with audit services and IT for HR internal controls. Conduct regular HR audits to find opportunities for improvement.
    • Lead and support the development of HR operational efficiencies to optimize and streamline HR core processes from onboarding to offboarding.
    • Maintain HR processes and procedures ensuring a regular cadence of review and update management.
    • Supervise core HR operational functions such as unemployment processing, employment verification, call tree, business continuity, and records management processes and improvements.
    • Program manage and ensure continuous improvement of Symetra's Onboarding Program, striving for an exceptional onboarding experience.

      • Partner with key teams to identify, recommend, and implement changes.
      • Run, facilitate, and ensure onboarding classes and activities are being performed in partnership with other teams (welcome/orientation sessions etc.).
      • Collaborate with other teams to ensure appropriate, clear and consistent content and communications.
      • Manage onboarding surveys and application of feedback to prioritize implementation of improvements.
      • Act as an escalation point for program related challenges and obstacles. Exercise creativity and extensive company knowledge to network to solve problems and implement consistent resolutions quickly.

Compensation

Salary Range: $93,900 - $156,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who You Are



  • 5+ years' progressive experience in Human Resources required.
  • 3+ years' program management experience.
  • Successful track record of people development/supervisory experience.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and HR standard methodologies.
  • Understanding of onboarding processes.
  • Proven leadership and influence skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly/facilitating content to groups of various sizes.
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional service and positively impacting customer/employee experiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong program management and process development skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to bring multiple teams and functions together around a common goal.
  • Able to coach and develop team members by setting expectations, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive data.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some minimal travel required.

Travel:

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
