Job Description:

The Chief of Staff to the General Manager (GM) of Skapa by Saab and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Saab, Inc. is a trusted leader responsible for driving strategic initiatives, managing complex programs, and providing operational support across the organization. This role requires exceptional communication, project management, and financial acumen to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The Chief of Staff will serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, while leading cross-functional teams to deliver results. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in strategy development, event execution, budget management, and leadership operations.

This role is pivotal to the success of the GM and CSO, requiring a balance of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and leadership. If you are passionate about driving impactful initiatives and fostering organizational success.

Specifically, a person in this role will focus on:

Strategic Initiative Execution:

  • Lead and execute projects such as organizational launch events, customer demos, demos, and strategy events.

  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement strategic visions and objectives.

  • Support coordination of organizational-wide strategy development and facilitate alignment across functional teams.

Program Management:

  • Oversee the execution of programs with moderate complexity, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.

  • Create technical and non-technical communication materials that summarize division-wide results to management, senior leadership teams, Saab AB, and board of directors.

  • Develop program plans and strategic initiatives that span needs of the team's naval/maritime and digital lines of effort.

Financial Oversight:

  • Develop, manage, and communicate the organizational budget.

  • Lead monthly budget meetings to align leadership on financial transparency and strategic investment decisions.

  • Create innovative financial visualizations to enhance decision-making and storytelling.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for senior leadership, board members, and external customers.

  • Manage high-profile visits and events, such as meetings with government officials and key customers.

  • Facilitate internal communication by leading recurring meetings and developing impactful presentations.

Leadership and Team Support:

  • Mentor and coach employees, fostering professional growth across levels 1-3.

  • Build and maintain a repository of organizational processes, presentations, and tools.

  • Establish communication rhythms, such as all-hands meetings and leadership updates, to ensure team alignment.

  • Work with Skapa line of effort leaders to strategically plan a range of initiatives (tech days, customer days, product features, etc.) to maximize business opportunities, external presence, customer engagement, and achieve success.

Organizational Culture:

  • Cultivate a culture of trust, collaboration, and results by implementing high standards and ethical practices.

  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in operational and strategic processes.

  • Work with team leadership to ensure that the lines of effort teams are adequately equipped to achieve program objectives and make recommendations in support of key business objectives.

  • Identify opportunities to measure and track key performance indicators and ensure team is accomplishing missions.

Compensation Range: $161,500 - $209,900

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, strategy, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • 10 years of experience in a leadership, operational, or strategic role, with at least 5 years supporting executive-level leaders.

  • Proven expertise in financial management, including budget development and analysis.

  • Exceptional program and event management skills, with a track record of delivering high-profile initiatives.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and craft compelling presentations.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and data visualization techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
