This is a hybrid position where you will work from home 4 days a week, and join other members of the People Team one day a week - Tuesdays - to collaborate and re-engage with peers.
General Responsibilities:
In this role you will be accountable for the comprehensive leadership and management of Human Resources (HR)/People strategies, practices, and policies and ensuring they are focused on the employee experience in support of Terracon's Purpose, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. This role ensures the consistent and excellent application of HR/People solutions while customizing approaches to meet specific business needs. The Director will partner closely with business leadership to understand their key priorities and align people strategies to support these goals. As such, the Director will work closely with their assigned client group as well as with the Human Resources/People Team.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy
- Lead the development and implementation of Human Resources (HR)/People strategies that align with the overall business objectives at an enterprise-wide level as well as within a specific client group.
- Oversee the creation and execution of HR/People policies and practices that are clearly linked and aligned with Purpose, Vision and Values and Strategic Plan, including together, we are best at people.
- Maintain a "one HR" mindset in collaborating across HR to effectively deliver a consistently excellent employee experience.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
Customized HR Solutions
- Understand the strategy and needs of the business and their connection to people, and adapt practices and solutions to meet those needs while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide goals and strategies.
- Identify and creatively address complex challenges through a client centric approach that aligns with organizational goals.
- Partner with HR team to implement best practices in talent acquisition, performance management, employee development, and retention.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the HR team.
Client Partnership
- Build strong relationships with client groups to understand their specific business challenges and opportunities.
- Collaborate with business leaders to develop and implement people strategies that drive business success.
- Guide/mentor/partner with leaders on leading their teams through both planned and unexpected change.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on all HR-related matters.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all HR services across assigned client group.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR strategies and make data-driven decisions.
- Lead and mentor the HR team, promoting professional growth and development.
Other
- Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices. Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
- Communicates safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for Office. Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years' related experience.
- 10-15 years in Human Resources with a minimum of 7 years managing multiple HR functions in a multi-state environment.
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role, with a track record of developing and implementing successful HR strategies.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and the ability to tailor solutions to meet specific business needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
- SPHR certification preferred
