In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic group of smart and hard-working field engineers. As a Technical Lead - Network Security at CDW, you will engage in high-visibility projects and offerings that pose technical challenges, allowing you to showcase your expertise. 50% of your time will be dedicated to mentorship, where you will guide and lead a group of Associate Engineers through the ACE training program at CDW. The remaining 50% will involve field delivery, ensuring successful project outcomes and providing advanced technical leadership.

What you will do:

Project Delivery:

  • Acts as lead engineer or advisor on projects, delighting customers and ensuring the successful application of CDW's Professional Services Engagement Methodology.
  • Participates in all stages of the project life cycle, including product definition, sales discussions with customers about advanced technology solutions, project planning, and technology solution design.
  • Provides comprehensive client consultation, performing analyses of customer security needs, recommends designs, and implements secure server and network environments.
  • Tests LAN/WAN/WLAN security products, implements test plans, evaluates test equipment, designs test networks, and aids in the development of automated test suites.
  • Oversees the project implementation, manages billing for projects, and participates in post-project debrief sessions.
  • Regularly interfaces with the technical and business staff of customers, including the project sponsor and stakeholders of projects in more complex engagements.
  • Serves a leadership role as a key team member on large scale customer engagements with high levels of risk and complexity.

ACE (Associate Consulting Engineer) and Peer Mentorship:

  • Develops staff and training plans in collaboration with the Practice, Professional Services Managers, and Technical Architects for the effective implementation of new Advanced Technology Solutions.
  • Provides technical and professional mentorship to individual team members, particularly Associate Consulting Engineers (ACEs), to develop their skills and help them graduate from the ACE program to become fully-fledged consultants.
  • Coaches Engineers through feedback and teaching, providing Engineer performance feedback to leadership.
  • Leads technical calls and initiatives as appropriate and serves as a technical thought leader for delivery, presales, and R&D as appropriate.

Customer Satisfaction:

  • Assumes responsibility for customer satisfaction, serving as the client's primary technical point of contact and ensuring customer needs are met through the successful execution of project plans.
  • Ensures timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Serves as an advisor to leadership on advanced customer engagements.

Team and Practice Development:

  • Contributes to CDW's reputation as an employer of choice by accelerating the professional development of Engineers and ACEs, providing feedback to Practice and Technical Architects, and managing a team of Engineers.
  • Ensures team members, particularly ACEs, are properly trained on executing standard operating procedures for solutions and on the use of templates and the technical application of the methodology.
  • Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade converged network security solutions.
  • Identifies and communicates potential opportunities for cross-selling to the sales team and contributes to pre-sales activities and initiatives, as well as the creation of new services.

Self-Development:

  • Seeks opportunities to expand technical expertise and adapt to new Advanced Technology Solutions through continuous learning and feedback.
  • Participates in post-project debrief sessions to assess performance and identify areas for improvement and personal development.
  • Develops and completes an education plan to grow skills consistent with client needs, stays up-to-date with network security trends and products, and pursues relevant certifications or training to enhance expertise.

What we expect of you

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent.
  • 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • 6+ years of large scale, enterprise-class planning, design, implementation, and support experience, with at least 3 years in a consulting role.
  • At least 6 months of CDW Engineering experience.
    • Advanced level technical certifications or equivalent.
    • Experience designing, implementing, and upgrading a minimum of two of the following or very in-depth technical expertise in one vendor across the full portfolio of solutions:
      • Palo Alto Solutions such as: Strata NGFW's, GlobalProtect, Panorama, Expedition migrations, and related Palo Alto technologies.
      • Fortinet Solutions such as: Fortinet FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient, FortiConverter, and related Fortinet technologies.
      • Cisco Solutions such as: ISE, ASA, FTD, Duo, AnyConnect, Umbrella, and related Cisco technologies.
    • Experience designing and implementing IDS/IPS solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both orally and written, with the ability to communicate effectively using a variety of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and organize tasks, improve organizational effectiveness, proactively collaborate and build relationships, and creatively problem solve.
  • Proven history of coordinating complex projects with multiple facets and stakeholders, demonstrating solid attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Proven ability in leading and mentoring engineering teams, conducting technical training sessions, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% to other CDW locations and client sites, and to work weekends and/or off-hours as necessary to meet clients' needs.
  • Experience implementing, migrating, and upgrading SASE solutions such as Zscaler and Palo Alto Prisma, a plus.
  • Familiarity with Azure and AWS Cloud Networking, a plus.

Pay range: $ 160,000 - $ 223,000 depending on experience and skill set

Annual bonus target of 15% subject to terms and conditions of plan
