The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an award-winning, independent global non-profit research organization dedicated to designing and implementing policies that address the impacts of the global transportation sector on climate change and public health. The ICCT is looking for a Policy and Data Analysis Intern based in either our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, CA office. This internship provides an opportunity to work at the intersection of policy and data analysis to support applied research conducted by internal ICCT programs as well as external partners committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles. You will report to a Researcher in the Modeling Center.

You Will:



  • Track and compare environmental policies for the road transport sector that have been adopted or proposed by national and subnational governments.


  • Help develop inputs and scenarios for transportation models to quantify the impact of policies and technologies on emissions, air quality, public health, and charging infrastructure needs


  • Contribute to modeling analyses and related publications that inform international environmental policy developments for the road transport sector



You Have:



  • A strong academic record in engineering, data science, economics, policy, transportation, or a related field in your current undergraduate or graduate program


  • Interest in vehicle technology, climate change, energy, environment, or related topics


  • Demonstrated skills in policy analysis, data management, and research


  • Superior proficiency with MS Office including Excel


  • Interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal


  • Ability to work independently and engage effectively with team members



What Makes You Stand Out:



  • Experience using software such as Python and R for data analysis and visualization


  • Experience analyzing environmental and energy policies in the road transport sector


  • Some familiarity with SQL databases and associated software packages such as DBeaver



Our Benefits:

This is a full-time (30- 40 hours per week) internship opportunity that will be based in our Washington, D.C., or San Francisco office for 10-12 weeks and have an hourly rate starting at $21.18 (DC) or $23.30 (SF). Interns are eligible for a limited benefits package, which includes paid time off, internet subsidy, and other benefits. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
