Camp Counselors will be responsible for the supervision and activities of approximately 10-12 children ages 6-12 in an outdoor and indoor nature environment. Counselor will plan and carry out such activities as hiking, arts and crafts, sports, drama, swimming, and field trips.

Essential Functions

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Instruction of arts and crafts, games, nature education and other outdoor related activities.
- Act as a role model; provide first aid; ensure the safety of children and complete necessary forms and reports.
- Plan and coordinate activities with the Day Camp Director; assistance in other parks and recreation programs as needed, including the Allen USA Celebration.

Job Requirements
-
Education & Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- High School diploma or equivalent with no prior relevant work experience.
Experience working with youth, prior day camp experience, or experience programming camp activities preferred.
Certification and Other Requirements
- CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain by May 27th (training provided).
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
Work Schedule
- Must be available for work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 27th through August 8th.
Overall Physical Strength Demands
- Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Reading
Basic - Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Math
Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Writing
Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
