Munich Re Specialty Group North America (MRSG N.A.) is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as we grow. As part of Munich Re Group, we are a unique organization providing expertise in specialty and marine lines of insurance as well as surety risks and customs bonds with in-house claims solutions.

We are seeking a full time Broker Relationship Leader to join the Munich Re Specialty Group Insurance Services division as a hybrid employee in one of our regional offices (Schaumburg, IL, New York, NY, Charleston, SC, Miami, FL, Houston, TX, Long Beach, CA) reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer.

Job Profile

  • Develop a pipeline of prospective opportunities, hold regular meetings both virtually and in-person with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with Munich Re Specialty NA BRL group/leadership, business unit managers and underwriters to develop national and regional business plans that drive the sales and development of new and existing opportunities to include review and management of underwriter and broker KPIs.
  • Project manage and liase with underwriting management and legal/compliance to assist in fulfilling requirements which result program opportunities.
  • Ensure strong execution and management of sales process including managing CRM data, trip logs with marketing activities and participating in regular connect meetings with internal stakeholders on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain strong relationships and rapport with senior level professional counterparts at wholesale and retail brokerages.
  • Attend and participate in industry events and conferences to build up a strong professional network, maintain proximity to the market and represent Munich Re Specialty, Global Markets North America as a thought leader in specialty insurance solutions
  • Ensure that the wider Broker Relationship Leaders and North American Distribution team(s) in other Munich Re companies are connected to strategies, products and leadership within the Global Markets division contributing to Cross-Sell and One Voice distribution initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in Global Markets specialty products as the cross-platform liaison across Munich Re Specialty.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in the US commercial insurance industry with knowledge of specialty insurance products preferred.
  • Knowledge and established relationships within the US commercial insurance industry - the ideal candidate will have an exceptional reputation in the market with wholesale and retail brokers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverages prevalent in mid-market specialty insurance industry to include Marine, Inland Marine, Cyber and Terrorism coverages
  • Strategic mindset to assess how Munich Re Specialty, Global Markets North America can differentiate from its competitors and an open-minded approach to considering and developing alternative and non-traditional distribution opportunities
  • Self-starter, who maintains the highest-level of personal accountability. Equally as important, this person must have the charisma and executive presence to influence and build meaningful relationships with a broad and diverse set of wholesale and retail brokers
  • Passionate about the business and takes a sincere interest in the success of customers and partners
  • This candidate must be a phenomenally effective communicator, with outstanding experience calling on and negotiating with the brokerage community
  • Candidate should be able to effectively build commitment and excitement and win support and resources for initiatives at multiple levels both inside and outside the organization
  • An ability to inspire trust and followership in others through compelling influence, powerful charisma, passion in their beliefs, and active drive.
  • Travel up to 50% of time - Mainly US with limited International/London.
  • Team player with the ability to influence.
  • Comfort working in a start-up environment where the pace of change is fast and teams are continuously evolving
  • You own the outcomes of your role. Having the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and oversight are critical in this role

MRSGNA is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Schaumburg, IL The salary range posted below applies to the Company's Schaumburg, IL location. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $80,000 to $130,000, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Schaumburg, IL. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
