    JOB DESCRIPTION

    TITLE: BUILDINGS & GROUNDS NIGHT SUPERVISOR

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High school diploma, some college preferred.

    2. Previous experience as a school custodial and/or maintenance supervisor, or the equivalent at other institutions.

    3. Knowledge of all facets of the custodial field. including cleaning chemicals and equipment. 4. Knowledge of standard practices, methods, processes, material, machines and tools related

    to upkeep of building maintenance.

    5. Knowledge in the use, repair and maintenance of custodial equipment

    6. Knowledge in the use of custodial cleaning chemicals.

    7. Possesses good problem-solving skills. Thorough problem solving skill with

    ALM thoughtfulness.

    8. Self-directed and self-motivated in job-related tasks.

    9. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all staff and the public.

    10. Communicates effectively.

    11. Ability to operate all district vehicles, lifts and equipment. Experience in operating machinery, lifts, vehicles and equipment.

    12. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Illinois Driver's License.

    13. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

    REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Facilities

    SUPERVISES: Custodial and maintenance personnel on 2nd shift

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Building & Grounds Night Supervisor will provide students, teachers, staff and the community a safe, clean, attractive, comfortable and efficient environment. This position will supervise all custodial and maintenance personnel on 2nd shift and functions with a minimal level of supervision to accomplish the position's responsibilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assist in the selection, dismissal, assessment, scheduling, and training of all 2nd shift custodial and maintenance personnel.

    2. Assign, oversee, and review the work of all custodial and maintenance work areas.

    3. Evaluate the performance of the custodial and maintenance staff in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Facilities.

    4. Recommend to the Assistant Director of Facilities the continued employment of probationary employees based on evaluation.

    5. Encourage and participate in the ongoing training for operations employees on proper custodial procedures and safety guidelines.

    6. Manage scheduling for custodial and maintenance 2nd shift personnel.

    7. Conduct regular inspections of buildings and sites.

    8. Assess work order status and assures timely completion of outstanding work orders.

    9. Advise the Assistant Director of Facilities of major custodial and maintenance issues.

    10. Develop work orders for any needed repairs.

    11. Supervise preparation of the buildings for school activities.

    12. Maintain records for repairs and maintenance of all equipment in the areas of custodial services.

    13. Plan and oversee the preventative maintenance for school plant facilities and equipment.

    14. Complete annual inspections for physical plant facilities as assigned and assist in the development of the capital project list.

    15. Assist with health life safety inspections.

    16. Work closely with building principals to provide a safe and functional learning environment.

    17. Promote personnel safety, procedures and safe working environment for all employees.

    18. Ensure overall security of District buildings after hours.

    19. Ensure compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building and safety standards regarding all aspects of custodial and maintenance services.

    20. Maintain the appropriate inventory and order all needed materials, supplies, and equipment.

    21. Evaluate and locate products and vendors for specialized repairs, equipment and custodial supplies. Obtain quotes for equipment, supplies, and services as needed.

    22. Serve as emergency contact for after hour emergencies. Respond to and assist with off-hours emergency situations. Assist with safety and emergency planning, respond to/assist with/monitor crisis situations.

    23. Assist in District-wide snow and ice management.

    24. Assist in supporting the District wide energy management plan.

    25. Performs other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

    1. Ability to work in a very fast-paced and stressful environment.

    2. Ability to meet the physical demands of facility equipment inspection in buildings, on roofs, and in the field.

    3. Ability to work on a computer during the workday.

    4. Ability to manage all types of emergency operations in any type of weather or location within the District.

    5. Ability to speak and hear.

    6. Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers.

    7. Ability to frequently lift and/or move moderate loads (40-60 lbs) and heavier loads (60-100 lbs).

    8. Ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.

    9. Ability to work from heights and ensure proper personal protective equipment is used.

    10. May be required to leave main work site to attend meetings and inspect work or construction sites for compliance to District standards.

    11. Driving is required between District facilities.

    GENERAL COMMENTS: The individual in this position may supervise outside contractors.

    Second Shift: schedule aligns with supervised staff,

    generally 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, with the ability to flex based on operational needs

    Salary Range:

    $65,000 - $70,000 (Annual, Exempt)

    Exempt (Not eligible for overtime)
