This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Essential Functions
- Working primarily with software and systems on the land and sea-based Flight Safety systems. Systems include processing and display computers, networks, telemetry, communications, and transmitters.
- Develop and maintain the software configurations used in mission operations.
- Operate, configure, troubleshoot, and document the systems for mission support. This includes post-mission analysis and documentation.
- Design and implement software projects for the Flight Safety System, Simulators, and other software utilities.
- Leading technical staff in the preparation, planning and execution of operations at the flight safety systems at the Reagan Test Site. This involves all aspects of preparing the systems for missions; interfacing with government representatives, industry partners and other contractors in a team environment to support the flight safety and mission requirements of missile testing. The systems are located on a ship and at sites on the small tropical islands of Kwajalein and Roi Namur.
- Duties include fault detection, fault isolation, reporting, repair, testing and documentation.
- Other activities include ensuring the systems remain cyber compliant in accordance with RMF accreditation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas: software engineering, systems engineering, configuration management and networks.
- Establishing and following configuration management processes.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Able to provide project planning and estimates.
- A history of developing using Visual Studio, C++, C#, Perl, CSS, or XML.
- Proficient in Unit Testing using a testing framework such as Boost.
- Knowledge of software configuration management (Git, CVS, Subversion).
- Knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Independently motivated to define and pursue projects to completion.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and upper management, including presentation skills. An appreciation for and sensitivity to the needs and expectations of customers.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a group and work independently with minimal supervision as dictated by the situation.
- Effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Software or Systems Engineering or equivalent qualification in a related STEM discipline.
- Two (2) or more years work experience in Engineering or related disciplines.
- Experience with creating Systems and Software documentation for Requirements, Design, and Testing.
- Front end design or application development experience.
- Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cyber security, desired.
- Familiar with the Universal Documentation System (UDS), desired.
- Experience with systems and/or software engineering best practices, e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, configuration control, desired.
- Experience with all phases of application lifecycle development including requirements, design, implementation, and verification, desired.
- Experience with programming MatLab, desired.
- PMP, PgMP, CAPM, or PMI-SP certified, desired.
- Security +, CISSP, CEH, desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirement.
- Must be willing and physically able to sail aboard a ship, KMRSS Worthy, in a deep-sea environment for extended periods.
- Must be willing and physically able to travel via boat, helicopter, and airplane to other islands within the atoll.
