The team you'll be part of

As a Senior Patent Specialist/Counsel, you'll be part of a team specialized for creating and managing a patent portfolio for ensure the technology evolution and leader of Nokia's product Business. You will be working together with seasoned experts having long experience in legal, IPR and/or technical side as well with the Nokia inventor community. The work includes co-operation with e.g. Business unit product experts, standardisation and research in Nokia Bell Labs and with in-house and external counsels.

The Patent Specialist/Counsel appointment is key within the IP Department of Nokia. The person appointed will have the opportunity to achieve considerable success within this long established and well-respected organisation. What you will learn and contribute to

The key responsibilities of the Patent Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Identify, capture, and manage Nokia's intellectual property with a focus on invention evaluation.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Prepare and review claim charts to support litigation and licensing initiatives.
  • Reviewing claim charts and collaborating with experts to ascertain the claim scope
    and mapping to business-critical product implementations.


Your skills and experience

You have:



  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent specialization or patent counsel, preferably in an industry setting.
  • Strong understanding of wireless communication standards (4G/5G/ORAN/5GAdv/6G) and related Radio Network Technologies. (e.g. RF HW, Baseband Processing, Sub THz, MIMO, SoC HW/SW, RAN CTRL, O&M, Cloud RAN, applied AI/ML in wireless products)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Fluency in English


It would be nice if you also had:



  • A qualification as European or National Patent Attorney or Patent Agent or being a candidate working towards a full qualification of patent attorney
  • Deep knowledge of patenting in AI/ML and computer-implemented software inventions is desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of Nokia's and/or third-party products and the respective technical implementations
  • Proficiency in German, French, or Finnish is a plus.
