Duties

The Opportunity:
In this position, you will play a critical role in ensuring DRS has the information needed to complete a comprehensive and timely review of disability applications received from members. You will coordinate receipt of all parts of the disability application and initiate contact with members, employers, and health care providers if information is missing. You will track all applications from receipt to completion of the review and will manage all applications and medical information exchanged with the third-party medical reviewer.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Contact applicants, employers, and physicians/health care providers to obtain missing information or to request further clarification regarding the member's application and disabling condition.
  • Coordinate the receipt of all parts of the disability application (member, employer and medical), identify when a complete application has been received for review.
  • Complete data tracking regarding the status of an application from receipt to completion.
  • Manage all applications and medical records going to and from the third-party reviewer.
  • As requested, help coordinate outgoing correspondence regarding disability re-reviews and financial reviews.

NOTE: After successful completion of the review period and effectively demonstrating the ability to perform work independently, you may be eligible to telework up to two days per week, at the discretion of the Appointing Authority and with a telework agreement in place. The ability to work remotely is dependent on the nature of the tasks and projects assigned and the presence of a remote work environment that is safe and has an appropriate level of reliable connectivity. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance (less than 50 straight-line miles) to the DRS building in Tumwater, WA, and must be willing to adjust your telework schedule to attend mandatory meetings, trainings, etc., at the DRS facility.


Qualifications

What we're looking for (required qualifications):

  • Proven experience coordinating disability, medical, or insurance claims, including direct communication with claimants and medical professionals to obtain information required for application review. Experience is typically gained from a minimum of three (3) years of full-time professional experience [a Bachelor's degree may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience];
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (version 2016 or newer);
  • Demonstrated ability to use multiple computer applications simultaneously; and
