A Taste of What You'll Do

Are you a passionate and detail-oriented individual with a knack for scientific analysis and a love for the world of wine and spirits? We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will perform physical, microbiological, and chemical analyses of alcoholic beverages, grapes, grape products, water, and other materials essential for quality control, winemaking, environmental monitoring, research, and the evaluation of products and processes. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our winery's production processes.

As a Senior Lab Tech, you will operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment such as auto-titrators, refractometers, densitometers, gas chromatographs, infrared analyzers, and spectrophotometers. You will also support method development activities, engage in instrument troubleshooting, and participate in the onboarding and training of new laboratory personnel. Your role will involve analytical troubleshooting, evaluating laboratory quality control data, and communicating directly with production staff to address any out-of-specification products.

What You'll Need

  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Bachelor's degree with a combined 20 college coursework units of chemistry, biology, and/or microbiology plus 2 years of chemistry/microbiology laboratory experience; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years or 6 seasons of paid laboratory experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibilities; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 20 college coursework units of chemistry, biology, and/or microbiology plus 4 years of chemistry/microbiology laboratory experience.
  • Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
  • Required to maintain 3 shift availability (day, swing, and graveyard); required to work overtime when necessary; required to work weekends when necessary
