Summary:Full-time, tenure track teaching faculty position at our Bethlehem Campus beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. Course load includes developmental and college-level mathematics courses. The ideal candidate will prepare students for success in college-level mathematics and beyond, with a focus on fostering student engagement, building foundational math skills, and addressing diverse learning needs. Teaching load is 15 credits/semester, 30 credits/academic year. In addition to teaching, all faculty members must advise students, engage in substantive college service activities and pursue professional growth activity every year.

Primary Function:Teach developmental mathematics and college-level mathematics courses. Develop and deliver effective lesson plans and provide high-quality instruction to students who need to strengthen their foundational math skills to succeed in college-level math courses. Use current knowledge of trends and innovations as well as practical experience teaching developmental mathematics to refine curricular and instructional materials and enhance student learning and retention. Participate in college service through advising students, serve on the Math Cluster, and other governance college committees. Take part in continuous professional development. Demonstrate a strong commitment to a diverse college community, student population, and curriculum.

Responsibilities: Work with students and other faculty to give instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the College Catalog:

(1) Plan instructional offerings:

  • Maintain curriculum and participate in course-level and program-level academic assessments

  • Acquaint all students with course requirements during the first week of classes and provide each student with periodic evaluations of his/her progress

  • Work closely with math cluster, department coordinators, and program manager on design and implementation of course outcomes

  • Participate in all areas of divisional and departmental responsibilities

  • Select textbooks and other instructional materials in compliance with developed college policies, as needed

  • Comply with all provisions as noted in the Contract with Local #3579 of the American Federation of Teachers

(2) Facilitate instructional process:

  • Recommend the purchase of library books and other instructional resources necessary for the effective implementation of the instructional program

  • Assist in the recruitment of full-time faculty members as provided in the Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Carry on an effective student advising program and implement the referral program to ensure that students who require counseling are directed to the appropriate staff member

(3) Participate in all regularly scheduled meetings of the department/division and professional staff

(4) Prepare preliminary budget materials for submission to the appropriate dean

(5) Complete an annual self-evaluation report that reflects individual and institutional goals and ambitions appropriate to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in mathematics from a Councilfor HigherEducation Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor institution required. Minimum of three (3) years college teaching experience (preferably at a community college), teaching developmental mathematics preferred. Experience working with and ability to meet the needs of community college students who come from various academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds (especially first-generation college students and adult learners), and knowledge of growth mindset to help students face math anxiety.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with McGraw-Hill ALEKS software and working within D2L Brightspace learning management system.
