Your Role: In this role, you'll ensure projects align with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements while providing valuable technical and practical electrical knowledge to the Port Design Services Department.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform on-site inspection of electrical work and assist with non-electrical inspection as requested.
  • Inspect materials, installation, and layout; notify contractor of unacceptable material or work.
  • Suspend work with Construction Manager's approval.
  • Act as liaison between the Construction Manager, Operations, the tenant, Port safety, Port environmental and the contractor during construction
  • Perform or supervise quality control electrical testing.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records.
  • Keep a daily diary for each job assigned.
  • Provide input for monthly construction progress report; verify quantities of work for contractor's monthly pay estimate.
  • Keep as-built drawings up to date.
  • Verify proper licensing and registration of electrical contractors.
  • Provide interdepartmental support.
  • Provide assistance to engineers for in-house design work.
  • Review projects prior to bidding for constructability and economics of design.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects requiring the involvement of Port maintenance personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate degree in Electrical or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
  • Four (4) years Electrical Inspector which includes inspection of special equipment and machinery that has not been listed or labeled by a testing laboratory.
  • Practical experience in commercial and industrial building construction methods, industrial electrical equipment, machinery, and related code requirements.
  • At least six (6) years of engineered electrical design or electrical construction project management.
License or Certification required:
  • Oregon General Journeyman License
  • Oregon State "A" Level Electrical Inspectors Certification or obtain within One Year of employment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License is required

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities
  • General construction practices and electrical design.
  • Electrical construction and terminology.
  • Electrical standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of city, state, and national electric codes
  • Ability to produce written documents using Word, Excel, Blue Beam, and Outlook

Security

Employees in this position will be required to successfully pass and maintain security clearance relevant to assigned duties such as SIDA (Security Identification Display Area)



Supplemental and Selection Information

  1. Minimum Qualification Evaluation: During the week of February 24, 2025, Human Resources and the Hiring Manager will evaluate the education, training, and experience outlined in submitted application packets.
  2. Subject Matter Expert (SME) Evaluation: A panel of internal Subject Matter Experts will assess your experience and training based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questionnaire.
  3. Interview Scheduling: Our goal is to schedule first-round interviews with candidates who successfully pass the SME evaluation during the week of March, 3rd. The first round will typically involve the recruiter and the hiring manager. Second-round panel interviews are planned for the week of March, 3rd and will include the hiring manager, the recruiter, and other internal stakeholders
