Job Summary:

This position performs a variety of custodial tasks required in the routine cleaning and maintenance of university buildings. Moderately heavy physical effort is required for some tasks such as floor scrubbing, emptying trash containers, moving furniture and equipment, etc. Occasional overtime may be required for snow removal and/or emergency cleanup. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor.


Responsibilities:
Cleans facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.

  • 40% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
  • 10% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
  • 20% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
  • 20% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
  • 10% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice

Work Schedule:

We are hiring for the following shifts:

1st shift: 4:00am- 12:30pm, Monday- Friday, rotating weekends or 8:00am- 5:30pm Monday- Friday

2nd shift: 5pm- 1:30am, Monday-Friday

3rd shift: 10:30pm- 7:00am, Sunday- Thursday


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $17.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
-Plus an additional $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6pm-6am).
-Plus an additional $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked.
-Plus time and a half per hour for hours worked on designated legal holidays.

Some of these positions may require the ability to speak, read, and understand verbal instructions in English.

Second and third shift employees are required to attend training the first week of employment during second shift hours (5pm-1:30am).

This position may require working in or around animal facilities on campus. Those working in or around animal facilities are required to complete an annual safety training and personnel medical evaluation form to gain clearance. Some areas have additional requirements for entry, including a TB test with negative results and measles titer test. We will provide trainings that will address hazards as well as how to safely perform job duties by, for example, following signage and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
