Position Highlights |
The Department of Family and Community Medicine is accepting applications for the position of Accountant II to assist with broad scope of accounting activities. The successful candidate will report to the Administrative Manager as a key part of the department's business office team. The incumbent must be enthusiastic, motivated, and an excellent team player. This position will perform a wide range of detailed/complex accounting and advisory functions pertaining to departmental operations to include day-to-day account transactions in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Utilize UAccess systems to prepare and analyze financial reports and accounting statements. Initiate, review and monitor account transactions, budgets, balances and reconciliations and provide explanations and recommendations for budget variances.
- Perform monthly reconciliation and management of accounts consisting of designated, gift, and grant/contract, ensuring compliance with external sponsors, University of Arizona (UA), and, governmental policies and regulations.
- Support the All-Funds budgeting process.
- Review end dates of accounts and prepare for closure or backstop as needed.
- Request, review, process and/or approve day-to-day business transactions with accuracy, completeness and in compliance with University and University of Arizona Foundation policies and procedures.
- Process travel advancements, reimbursements, and employee reimbursements.
- Process and reconcile department PCard, Disbursement Vouchers (DV), Inter Department Billing (IDB), requisitions, and vendor set-up.
- Interact with faculty, staff and administration to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve funding issues and discrepancies in general financial transaction.
- Provide excellent customer service, establishing professional relationships with Faculty/PI's along with answering emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by Administrative Manager or the Department Chair.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Access and Word.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with UA systems, such as UAccess Financials, Research, and Analytics.
- Experience with UA policies and procedures.
- Experience with budgeting and sponsored research accounting.
