Scope of Position The Assistant Dosimetry Manager functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Oncology Team and provides leadership for an assigned location. The Dosimetry team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes through the integrated skills of all team members in the Department. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager, as a leader of the Dosimetry team, is thoroughly familiar with the radiation treatment planning process and Department clinical operations. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager supports the daily management of the Dosimetry team at their assigned location by ensuring quality, safety, and consistency of the treatment planning performed by the staff. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager will act as an interim or temporary leader for the Dosimetry team in the absence of the Dosimetry Manager and will assist in education and development of the staff Dosimetrists. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager acts as a department leader in implementing new technologies by helping to craft workflows and will appoint project leaders from the Dosimetry team, as needed. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager works with the Dosimetry Leadership Team to ensure appropriate staffing and coverage for their assigned location(s). The Assistant Dosimetry Manager serves as the primary contact person for faculty and staff members of the Department for their assigned location(s) for matters related daily clinical operations and staff management. Position Summary The Assistant Dosimetry Manager in the Department of Radiation Oncology helps to direct and manage the treatment planning team who measures and generates radiation dose distributions and performs dose calculations. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager manages the organization and coordination of clinical education programs as they relate to the Dosimetry team, is also responsible for oversight of the dosimetry curriculum for the various educational offerings and preparing non-certified dosimetrists for board certification. The Assistant Dosimetry Manager reviews technology advancements and equipment replacements, manages staff coverage, and is a key point of contact regarding treatment planning activities in their location(s) of assignment. Their primary responsibilities consist of educating, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the performance of Dosimetry staff in their assigned location. In addition, the Assistant Dosimetry Manager maintains a partial treatment planning workload as time permits. Minimum Qualifications For Hire: Board Certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. 7+ years of relevant dosimetry experience. Ongoing: Meets standards and competencies of the job as assigned and required. Maintains board certification by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board.
