Part-Time Summer Program Ambassadors

Hourly Rate: $18.00

The Summer Program Ambassadors are on-campus, part-time, seasonal, grant-funded positions which may work between 19-26.5 hours per week based in Champaign, Illinois. Summer Program Ambassadors will support and guide high school students enrolled in our summer college and career prep programs. The Ambassadors will be supervised by Staff Leaders within the program and will serve as positive role models, educate students about Parkland College, guide students to various program classes and assist instructors as needed. Professionalism and the ability to effectively communicate are key qualifications.

The successful applicants must be available to work June 2 through June 26, 2025, Monday through Thursday, 8:45AM-4:15PM. They must also be available Tuesday, May 13th from 10:00AM to 3:00PM for a paid training day as well as the evenings of May 21st and May 22nd from 5:00PM-8:00PM to attend parent/student orientation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist instructors in the classroom and during demonstrations.
  • Assist with program participant check-in and check-out daily, offering directions, guiding tours, and leading team-building activities.
  • Serve as a role model, peer mentor, and ambassador of Parkland College and its policies and procedures, offices and divisions, services, and campus life in a professional manner.
  • Facilitate interaction among visitors during tours and orientation sessions.
  • Participate in and complete peer mentor training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve, take initiative, manage conflict, be creative, and think critically.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork characteristics and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Parkland College programs, services, campus, etc.
  • Display a positive attitude, high level of energy, and sense of enthusiasm for Parkland College.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as being comfortable speaking in front of small audiences.
  • Ability to work inclusively in a diverse setting.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
