*Description*
Core Job Responsibilities *Interprets construction prints and splices cables from end-to-end and terminates at both ends (backbone or laterals). *Performs acceptance testing and documentation of newly installed cable. *Performs cutovers of cable due to defects or to rerouting requirements without service interruptions. *Positions weatherproof closures and performs flash testing to ensure proper seals. *Updates customers of entry to private properties to access cable facilities. *Notifies customer representatives and/or customer inspectors of any challenges or problems that may occur. *Sets up traffic control when necessary, according to local and state requirements. *Other duties as assigned. *Core Job Responsibilities specific to a Copper Splicer A oUses appropriate equipment to test aerial cable and strand for foreign voltage and water for high pollution levels prior to pumping. *Core Job Responsibilities specific to a Copper Splicer B oTroubleshoots cabling to locate defaults in the cable and then completes corresponding repairs. oDigs splice pits, potholes, trenches, and, when necessary, installs shoring. oRepairs or replaces drop wire or copper cable in a buried plant. *Skills* Splicing, Copper, OSP, Outage Repair, Fiber optic, copper fiber, OTDR, TDR *Top Skills Details* Splicing,Copper,OSP,Outage Repair *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Qualifications *Experience and Education oHigh School Diploma or GED oValid CA Driver License o1 year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job. *Working Knowledge Of oPressurized and non-pressurized splicing procedures of copper cable. oGas testing and ventilation procedures for confined spaces. oThe proper types of material required for different customers. *Ability To oCapable of using industry-specific test equipment, including Time-Domain Reflectometers (TDRs), Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), and Throwmaster-brand testers. oComfortable working in confined spaces and ascending/descending ladders and utility poles. oThe ability to communicate in person, via telephone, and in writing. oMeet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. *Benefits:* *Days from Hire Date*** *Eligible Benefit*** 30 40 hours of paid sick time 60 Standard health benefits * Medical (48-52% of plan paid by Company, depending on plan) * Dental * Vision Supplementary health benefits * Supplemental coverage plans (e.g., Life) 90 *End of probationary period* * * Holiday pay (8 hours per holiday) for the following seven (7) holidays: * New Year's Day * Memorial Day * Independence Day * Labor Day * Thanksgiving * Black Friday * Christmas 180 Retirement Plans 180* Employee Appreciation Days (EADs), if available. *Employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours (approximately 6 months of hours) in the current calendar year to be eligible for a per-quarter EAD distribution, if available, in the following calendar year. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $93600.00/yr.
