FACILITY ATTENDANT (CITY HALL)
General Statement of Job
Under regular supervision, performs routine clerical and customer service work in support of efficient and effective Parks and Recreation Department operations. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation & Leisure Services Coordinator, Events and Venues Coordinator or Park Foreman.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Opens facility each morning and prepares for customers as well as ensure program rooms are setup for the day's activities; closes facility at scheduled times and performs closing procedures, including closing out cash register, printing daily cash reports, processing routine paperwork, making bank deposits and ensures the security of the facility prior to leaving.
Greets customers and visitors and performs customer/public service duties as required. Provides information to the public regarding department and facility programs, services, and schedules.
Collects and records registrations for programs, rosters and league paperwork, reservations, and various fees.
Follows strict adherence to the City's Cash Handling Policy.
Answers the telephone; provides accurate information to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate staff person.
Performs routine clerical work as required, including entering computer data, copying and filing documents, faxing information, etc.
Assist with program room set-up and breakdown. Maintains neatness and cleanliness of reception area. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
Requires a high diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years cashiering or customer service experience , or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the require knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess or have the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire; CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License. Must possess or obtain the most current FEMA 100, 200, and 700 Incident Command System certifications within 6 months of appointment to the job.
Minimum Standards and Qualifications Required
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment including computer, typewriter, copier, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to life/carry weights of five to ten pounds.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to subordinates and receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.
Language Ability: Requires ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, technical manuals, budget documents, fitness manuals, etc. Requires the ability to prepare reports, records, correspondence, etc., with proper format. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the ability to apply influence systems in managing a staff; to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give verbal and written instructions; to counsel and teach employees. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to utilize mathematical formulas, to determine percentages and decimals and to determine time and weight. Must be able to use practical applications of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office and fitness/sports equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, buttons, switches, catches, tools, etc. Must have moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency or unusual situations. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a slight degree and to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job.
Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Noise level in work environment is generally loud.

Knowledge of Job: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Parks and Recreation Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Facility Attendant. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Has knowledge in the areas of sports/recreation programming, event organization and implementation, etc. Is able to make sound, educated decisions.
