Koch Fertilizer Wever, LLC is looking for a Safety Specialist to join our EHS team in Wever, Iowa. This person will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance, managing hazards, leading emergency preparedness, and providing expert guidance on safety protocols and systems. Your efforts will help foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the organization. What You Will Do * Safety Policy Implementation: Support, evaluate, review, implement, and ensure adherence to Koch safety policies and procedures. * Regulatory Compliance: Lead site safety and health inspections, audits, assessments, and industrial hygiene surveys to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. * Hazard Management: cross-department collaboration to address hazardous conditions or equipment. Investigate incidents and accidents to identify causes and prevention strategies. * Training & Awareness: Conduct health and safety training for current and new employees. Reinforce safety awareness to promote cooperation and morale. * Emergency Response Management: Manage and direct the Emergency Response Team (ERT) while ensuring compliance with state, federal regulations, and NFPA standards, and complete preplanning and training for all potential emergencies. * Fire and Life Safety Expertise: Advise on NFPA codes for construction and facility improvements. Serve as the subject matter expert on fire and life safety codes/regulations. * Equipment and Systems Management: Manage the technical aspects of site radios, maintain portable gas detection equipment, and oversee inspections and maintenance of fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and fire alarm systems. * Confined Space and Excavation Safety: Act as the subject matter expert for confined space entry and excavations. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * 3+ years' experience supporting EHS in industry, the military or other relevant work. * Willing to become a member of the ERT fire, hazard, and tech rescue within one year. * Basic understanding of how regulations relate to manufacturing operations. * Willing and able to meet all physical requirements: * * Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds. * Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet. * Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required. * Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties. * Confined space entry may be required.
