IT Business Analyst provides problem solving skills and is responsible for assisting in project management, implementation, and maintenance of Line of Business applications, as well as the integration of the Line of Business applications to Knife River's ERP system. The primary KRC Line of Business applications are Command Series, Apex, Fuel Master, and HCSS. KRC utilizes the JD Edwards application as the primary ERP system. This role uses functional expertise of business applications and business processes to formulate solutions to meet internal customer needs. This position performs analysis and provides guidance related to the redesign of business processes, while ensuring operational efficiencies and excellence.

This position can be located in any of the following locations: Bend, OR - Portland, OR - Billings, MT - Boise, ID - Bismarck, ND - Sioux Falls, SD.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Requires knowledge of business systems and processes at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, management information systems or related field.
  • Four to six years of experience in software package configuration, installation, integration and maintenance.
  • Two to six years of construction software or related construction field work. Working on things such as bidding, job costing, and other reporting capabilities.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience configuring and supporting Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledgeable of relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server a plus.
  • Knowledge of software package deployment in a Citrix environment.
  • Knowledge of mobile applications deployed on tablets and smart phones.
  • Knowledge of server operating systems and the resources it takes to operate software.


Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Implement corporate point of sale software including, but not limited to: HCSS, Command Alkon, and Apex.
  • Implement various "point solution" software packages such as Fuel Master and other systems selected to support the KRC operating companies.
  • Maintain aforementioned software with proper patches, version upgrades and modules following corporate policies and procedures.
  • Work with software vendor support to address bugs in package code.
  • Coordinate the integration of Line of Business or point solutions applications into the corporate Back Office (JD Edwards) system.
  • Provide specialized application and technical support to Line of Business.
  • Ensure all modifications and or corrective software has been fully tested and documented following corporate policies and procedures.
  • Produce and maintain documentation on all systems.
  • Remain technically competent by constantly expanding technology knowledge base via approved classes or tutorial textbooks concerning hardware, software and network operating systems. Prepare and present findings on new knowledge involving technology-related issues to other members of the IT Team.
  • Participates in business process review and re-engineering efforts to enhance business processes.
  • Work independently with users, internal IT resources, and software package vendors to automate or enhance business processes.
  • Develop business requirements, technical specifications, test plans, and training plans to ensure technology projects are in line with business objective.
  • Participate in root cause analysis in order to recommend product enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the business and IT.
  • May act as a project manager on some projects.
  • Designs, develops and delivers end training and support for end users.
  • Responsible for identification and integration of data security measures.
  • Travel to subsidiary companies for application implementations and support will be required.
  • Available to assist with scheduled on-call support and technical emergencies as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

        • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks and conform to timelines for successful application implementation.
        • Ability to identify problems, in a timely manner, for systems utilized by a diverse customer/user base.
