What you'll do

Viasat is looking for a Engineering Technician to join our growing team. We have opportunities test system automation tool development, data analysis and reporting application tools, and system test engineering. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including systems eng, RF, digital/PL, mechanical, and test just to name a few. You will be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle: evaluation of requirements, trade studies, design, coding, unit test, integration, and maintenance. You will have the autonomy to complete your tasks but also have access to hard-working engineers and domain experts to help you succeed. Sound interesting? Keep reading....


The day-to-day

  • Integration and Test of Space Flight Hardware
  • Work with designers to gather test requirements
  • Develop Test Station Hardware
  • Select appropriate Test equipment
  • Create Test HW Bill of Materials
  • Test station calibration
  • Trouble shoot and problem solving on Viasat hardware
  • Data Analysis of test results

What you'll need

  • Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Current US citizenship
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

What will help you on the job

  • Prior experience with space flight hardware
  • Prior experience with electronically steered array (ESA) antennas

Salary range

$26.2 - $37.26 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $32.69 - $44.23/ hourly
