Position Summary
The Technical Documentation Specialist ( TDS) is responsible for oversight of technical documentation generation, including laboratory manuals, collection summaries, and other relevant materials. The TDS will be the primary point of contact for project initiation meetings, including site initiation visits and start-up meetings. This position will also maintain a portion of the department's archival tissue request portfolio for samples for all disease groups, including knowledge of trial-specific requirements, interactions with vendors, sample processing and shipping, and maintaining supplies. The TDS is also responsible for attending biopsies & collecting specimens.

This position will serve as the primary subject matter expert for technical documentation, and secondary subject matter expert for archival tissue requesting for the TPF lab; responsibilities include furthering the development of the diagnostic tissue request program and implementing training of clinical research staff on laboratory procedures, assisting in the development, implementation, and subsequent revisions of Lineberger investigator-initiated trial laboratory manuals. These responsibilities are integral to the mission of the UNC/ LCCC TPF by addressing patient safety and protocol compliance which impact research quality and safeguard institutional integrity.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Working knowledge of and facility with information technology; demonstrated ability to acquire and apply knowledge from study and review of defined sources; demonstrated ability to follow instructions; demonstrated ability to collect, record, and document information; demonstrated ability to review information for completeness and accuracy; demonstrated ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to coordinate work with others and contribute to a team environment through collaboration and instruction.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with requesting, processing, and shipping laboratory samples as well as preparing study specific kits. Experience drafting technical documents.
