Initial appointment will be for one year, beginning July 1, 2025, with the possibility of reappointment dependent on budgetary approval. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses based on needs; engaging in professional and/or scholarly activities; participation in service to the department, college, university, and profession. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field by the start of appointment. A candidate should possess a strong commitment to teaching at the college level and must demonstrate teaching excellence, an active research program, and service to the profession. Teaching will involve six courses over three quarters. A past record of research and future research potential also should be shown, as well as good citizenship as evidenced in service to the discipline. Salary for a Visiting Assistant Professor is $74,600. This is a negotiated rate of pay and is not dependent on a UC salary scale.
