Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Interested candidates should provide a current professional resume and a narrative of their leadership approach/philosophy. The candidates will be asked to participate in a panel interview(s) to share their unique qualifications, leadership experience and approach and successful business practices. Following interviews, KCI will evaluate candidates and requirements in order to determine the best fit within KCI's Professional Services Sector.

KCI is seeking an experienced Senior Executive to lead technical service line leaders and administrative resources across a geographical region. KCI Professional Services Sector is organized in four regions (Northeast, MidAtlantic, South and West) providing engineering and construction management services across six service lines, specifically, transportation design, construction management, water & environment, site/civil, survey & mapping and facilities. As described below, the Region Executive is a member of the Professional Services senior leadership team and is responsible for leading and driving performance results within the associated region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

The Region Executive at KCI is responsible for overseeing and driving the performance, growth, and strategic initiatives within specific geographic regions within the company's footprint. This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage all service lines, foster leadership development, expand the company's presence, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives. The Region Executive represents KCI at both regional and national levels and plays a crucial role in achieving business plan and budgetary goals.

    Leadership Development:
    • Cultivate a culture of leadership excellence at all levels within the region, fostering talent development and succession planning.
  • Service Line Management:
    • Oversee the health, wellbeing, and growth of all service lines within the designated region, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
    • Promote innovation within the region by encouraging new ideas and approaches to improve service delivery.
    • Identify potential risks within the region and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address and client issues promptly.
  • Strategic Growth:
    • Develop and implement strategies to annually grow revenue and profit, build out small or underrepresented services, expand client base, and enhance KCI's presence within the region.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to the Sector President on the region's performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Regional Representation:
    • Serve as the primary representative of KCI at regional and/or national levels, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and industry partners.
    • Foster relationships with local communities and participate in community outreach programs.
  • Financial Accountability:
    • Drive the achievement of business plan and budget goals for all service lines across the region, monitoring financial performance and implementing corrective actions as needed.
    • Optimize operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other regions to ensure collective success of the Professional Services Sector and KCI, sharing best practices and fostering a spirit of collaboration.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, maintaining high standards of ethical conduct and integrity.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 20 years of related professional experience, or 24 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven track record of leadership success, with a minimum of 20 years of experience leading to recent experience in executive management or business unit leadership roles.
  • Exceptional strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to drive growth and achieve KCI business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyze financial data, develop budgets, and drive financial performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and decision-making skills to independently solve complex business issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical aspects of the AEC industry and current trends.
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, partnerships, and client relations.
  • Ability to lead and manage change within the region, including implementing new processes and systems.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution to manage and resolve disputes within teams and with clients.
  • Willingness to travel as needed within the designated region and occasionally nationally.
  • Active membership in relevant professional organization and industry groups.
  • A qualified candidate is expected to operate out of a KCI Tier 1 office location.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Master's/MBA

Certificates, licenses, and/or registrations:

  • Successful completion of the KCI PM Training and Contract Training for current employees) or ability to complete within six months (for new hires.)

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • Professional license or certification within the field of expertise.
