Propulsion Systems ICE Misfire Calibration Engineer

The Stellantis On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Misfire Calibration Engineer will have the opportunity to develop new OBD strategies for engine propulsion control systems. They will be able to review system and software designs, generate test plans, manage vehicle/test-bench/virtual resources, and both develop and validate compliant calibrations for future propulsion system programs. The candidate will work cross functionally with hardware development, controls and software development, program management, test fleet support, vehicle and compliance teams. They will guide instrumentation of physical systems, plan and schedule chassis dynamometer emissions testing, and utilize data from acquisition software (INCA) to ensure that desired diagnostic behavior is achieved. The engineer will work with other OBD calibrators to gather requirements and milestone dates to plan and execute development on-time to successfully launch products. The ideal candidate will have a background in OBD diagnostics calibration or controls development and previous experience with misfire calibration. The candidate should expect to travel 1-4 weeks throughout the year for system validation/verification.
Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in OBD or emissions calibration or controls
  • Knowledge of Misfire Diagnostics
  • Proficient using INCA, Matlab and Simulink/Stateflow
  • Basic understanding of gasoline propulsion system hardware and function
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and business acumen
  • Self-motivated/proactive with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 5 or more years' experience in OBD or propulsion system calibration/controls within the electric, gasoline or diesel industry
  • Experience with engine emissions control systems
  • Experience calibrating and validation Misfire diagnostics
  • Experience with Minitab, C++ and Visual Basic
  • Experience with OBD ARB/UN ECE/China regulatory requirements
