R&D Process Engineer

The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a hands-on R&D Process Engineer to optimize our Nusil organization.

The R&D Process Engineer/ advanced technologies will be responsible for all phases of new product development of fabricated parts, process improvement projects, and capital projects ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to implement process improvements to meet quality standards, perform feasibility studies and solves problems.

This Carpinteria, CA role is full-time, on-site.

What we're looking for:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related.

Experience:

• 3+ years in chemical or materials processing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• With rubber processing such as spray, calender, molding, or similar processes.
• Business level communication and problem-solving skills, detail oriented.
• Flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• New product or process development experience.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

• Lead new product development efforts for cured silicone parts including developing the process, validating processing parameters, evaluating inputs, testing process repeatability/reproducibility in an ISO9001, AS9100, ITAR environment.
• Identify new equipment and technologies to support next generation silicone processing and continuous improvement of existing processes.
• Design, validate and commission new production equipment and tooling, monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
• Develop project budgets and business cases associated with the procurement of new equipment and technologies.
• Interact with customers, internal team members and vendors to develop process and equipment specifications. Prepares qualification reports, flow diagrams, and charts on research data and information.
• Development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance.
• Contribute to long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs, including capital expenditures.
