UIC is seeking a Software Developer to join our OVCAS IT and Building Systems team. This role will work under general supervision of the Deputy Director of Technology, Administrative Services, the Information Technology Technical Associate is responsible for providing software design, development, documentation and maintenance, database programming, and support services to all units reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide application development services to OVCAS departments using technologies such as (but not limited to) Microsoft.Net, C#, ASP.Net, Entity Framework, J2EE, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, and Bootstrap.Provide (Oracle and SQL Server) database design, SQL scripting and programming, Entity Framework (and other ORM) integration, and advanced SQL-based query and report development services to OVCAS departments.
  • Perform software development, application deployment, systems implementation, and maintenance projects for OVCAS departments.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and stakeholder interviews for application and development projects.
  • Maintain project, application and systems documentation as required for projects.
  • Provide technical design, development, and coordination for external and internal departmental websites.
  • Coordinate installation, design, and maintenance of web servers that host production and development/testing environments for the content management system and websites.
  • Coordinate with system administrators and vendors to successfully integrate/interconnect web services and VCAS systems, including the OVCAS's cloud-based tools, and web-based applications.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
  2. Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Development which includes demonstrated experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications, including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance.
