Overview

The Senior Freight Analyst is responsible for analyzing and optimizing freight operations to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods. This role involves advanced data analysis, development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), and collaboration with internal and global functions to enhance logistics processes. The analyst will also play a critical role in ensuring compliance with transportation and customs regulations. Candidates with experience in small package shipping are preferred but not required.


Responsibilities

  • Freight Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze freight costs and transportation rates to identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Develop and maintain advanced freight databases and Power BI reporting tools for performance tracking and analysis.
    • Create, monitor, and manage KPIs related to carrier performance, costs, and delivery timelines, ensuring data-driven evaluation and improvement.
  • Carrier Management:
    • Participate in carrier contract negotiations to support securing favorable rates and service terms.
    • Collaborate with carriers to address service issues and ensure compliance with agreements.
    • Monitor carrier performance, using KPIs to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Support:
    • Ensure freight operations comply with local, national, and international transportation regulations.
    • Stay updated on US Customs regulations and incorporate compliance measures into freight processes.
    • Support initiatives to maintain and improve compliance with relevant legal and industry standards.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Partner with logistics, procurement, and operations teams to streamline freight processes and enhance efficiency.
    • Collaborate with global teams and category managers responsible for freight procurement and strategy to align operational goals with broader company objectives.
    • Review billing statements to ensure accuracy and identify recurring issues.
    • Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights.
    • Analyze global supply chain footprint and recommend savings strategies to support improved freight cost
  • Market and Industry Research:
    • Conduct in-depth market research to stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulations relevant to freight logistics.
    • Benchmark company performance against industry standards to identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in freight analysis or a senior logistics role.
    • Preference for candidates with demonstrated experience in small package shipping (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS).
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in advanced data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
    • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
    • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, including US Customs regulations.
    • Experience collaborating with global teams or functions in freight category management.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
    • Experience in high-volume shipping environments, such as e-commerce or retail.
